What the readings show

Of the 18 tools, 7 say data stays in the EU and 6 offer an EU region on some accounts. 4 do not state a location, and 1 says data can go anywhere. 9 are contracted through a company in the EU, and 6 combine that with EU storage.

A European company does not guarantee European storage, and the reverse is true as well. GetResponse is a Polish company whose documents name no data centre. NordPass Business offers EU storage through a US contract, and keeps some account data in the United States whichever region you choose.

The three questions behind the table

Where is the data stored? We take this from privacy policies, data processing agreements and sub-processor lists. “Not stated” means we read the documents and they name no location. “EU region on some accounts” means you have to choose it, and sometimes pay for it or fit a condition.

Who do you contract with? A company outside the EU can be subject to its own country’s data access laws wherever the server stands. Keeper’s terms name an Irish company for customers in Europe, even though the group is American.

Are US sub-processors listed? A delivery, support or analytics vendor can reach personal data even when the main database stays in the EU. “Not stated” here means no public list was found, not that there are none.

How to use this for a vendor review

Open the linked document, confirm the wording and keep the date we read it. Providers change these pages without notice. EmailOctopus and MailerLite both updated theirs in October 2026.

The data can be downloaded under CC BY 4.0 as JSON or CSV. The method is on how we read prices.

This is a reading of published documents, not legal advice. As the controller of your own data, you remain responsible for checking that a provider fits your obligations.
